From Mixed Messages to Clear Direction
Timeless Notions didn’t come looking for a full website overhaul. They came because their business had shifted, and the homepage no longer reflected where they were headed. They knew the homepage mattered, but they didn’t want to make the wrong change.
When One Page Tries to Speak to Everyone
As Timeless Notions expanded its product offerings, corporate work became more important to the business. The homepage, however, was still centred on everyday gifting. Corporate visitors had to work harder to understand what was offered, how the business operated, and whether it was a good fit for them.
The work itself was solid, but the homepage didn’t clearly explain it to the right audience. That disconnect made it harder to attract corporate clients, even though the business was well-positioned to serve them.
What the Homepage Looked Like After Direction Was Set
Before any design changes were made, we focused on how corporate visitors moved through the homepage and what they needed to see first. The goal wasn’t to improve aesthetics. It was to reduce friction and remove uncertainty for the audience Timeless Notions wanted to reach.
Once the direction was set, the homepage could be designed with intention. The screens shown here represent the final outcome of that work. They were created to support a specific audience and message, rather than to explore design ideas or test visual concepts.
The Requirements for the New Homepage
Before proceeding, Timeless Notions needed confidence that:
- Corporate visitors could quickly understand what the business offers
- The homepage communicated credibility for professional buyers
- The site no longer tried to balance two very different audiences
This wasn’t about adding more content. It was about deciding what the homepage should be responsible for and what it should stop trying to do.
How the Right Decisions Were Reached
Instead of starting with design, we slowed the process down. Research was prepared in advance, the existing structure was reviewed, and corporate buyer expectations were considered before layout or navigation decisions were made.
The turning point came when the wireframes and revised menu structure were presented. That’s when the direction became clear. Not everything needed to change. What mattered was tightening the homepage around the audience Timeless Notions wanted to attract and removing elements that no longer supported that goal.
Because the work was focused and deliberate, the project moved forward without surprises.
“Seeing the wireframes and the new menu options made everything click. The direction finally felt clear.”
The Results
What Changed After the Homepage Was Updated
Once the updated homepage was live:
Visitors clearly understood what the business offers
The homepage felt credible to share professionally
The site supported a clearer focus on corporate work
We didn’t set out to chase metrics or prove performance. These outcomes emerged naturally once the structure and messaging were aligned with the right audience.
Night and day. Stacey understood exactly what needed to be done and came prepared with research and clear direction. Seeing the wireframes and new menu options made everything click. It was absolutely worth the investment.
A Calm Next Step
If your homepage feels like it’s trying to serve too many audiences, you don’t have to solve that immediately. You aren’t expected to have the answer figured out before starting. A practical review to confirm whether your website is doing its job.
